Job Description- Room Service Waiter (F&B)

Position Title: Room Service Waiter / In-Room Dining (IRD) Server
Reports To: Room Service Captain / IRD Captain
Position Summary:
As a Room Service Waiter, you are responsible for preparing orders, set trays and delivering items to guest rooms in an attentive and efficient manner, and ensuring to provide excellent quality service as per the Hotel Standard operating procedure.
Additionally responsible for maintaining cleanliness at work and guest areas by clearing, collecting and returning food and beverage items to the proper area. Also serve food courses and beverages to guests.

IRD Waiter Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Set tables, trays according to type of food ordered and the hotels service standards.
  2. Performs opening and closing procedures established for the department.
  3. Accurately records, pre-checks and picks-up all food and beverage orders.
  4. Check in with guests to ensure satisfaction with each food course and/or beverages.
  5. Responsible for cleaning and removing the trolleys/trays from guest rooms and corridor.
  6. Serves guests their food and beverage in prompt, courteous manner as per the standard sequence of service.
  7. Present physical and accurate check to guest and complete the payment process.
  8. To be able to immediately monitor guest comments and pass on to your Superior, and be proactive in solving problems whenever possible.
  9. To have a full knowledge of the food & beverage items & their specifications, menu prices, recipes and style of service etc.
  10. To have a thorough understanding and knowledge of all food and beverage items in the menu and the ability to recommend Food & Beverage combinations and also upsell alternatives.
  11. Check with the guest regarding the satisfaction of the meal. 
  12. Report guest complaints immediately to the supervisors and ensuring follow up is performed with the guest.
  13. Complete closing duties, including restocking items, turning off lights, etc.
  14. Maintain cleanliness of work areas, chinaware, glassware, etc., throughout the day.
  15. Report cleanliness and maintenance issues to the immediate supervisor.
  16. Assist in carrying out scheduled inventories of products and operating equipment.
  17. Ensure that the place of work and the surrounding area is kept clean and organized at all times.
  18. Ensure proper appearance and grooming while on duty.
  19. Ensure to have minimum wastage and breakage.
  20. Ensure communication between Kitchen, Order taker and service team members.
  21. Monitor operating supplies, equipment and reduce spoilage and wastage successfully.
  22. Being knowledgeable to operate the hotel's point of sales (POS) system, other order taking systems or handheld devices, inventory software etc.
  23. To ensure a very good relationship between the Operations floor, the Kitchen & Front of the House
  24. Assist in carrying out scheduled inventories of products and operating equipment.
  25. Perform any other assigned reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned or as requested by Supervisor.
